Press Release: New fall of soil volume in the Biological- Side of Peloponnese

In the early morning hours of Friday, January 15, 2021, despite the immediate intervention and measures taken to strengthen safety and stability, there was a new fall of soil volume in the Peloponnese on the site of the Biological, due to geomechanical conditions. The depth restoration work started immediately and will be carried out on a twenty-four hour basis until about 1,000 cubic meters of material is removed.

The restoration work is estimated to be completed in the evening hours of Tuesday, January 19, 2021, and the Corinth Canal will operate normally serving the navigation.
