2. Subject to Category “A” are the cargo vessels under the Greek flag only, that are not subject to categories “D”, “E”, “SE”, and “ST”.

3. Vessels are subject to Category “A” when, before crossing the Corinth Canal the two (2) precedent and afterwards the two (2) following ports are/were in Greece. Otherwise, the transit fees for vessels under a foreign flag apply.

GENERAL NOTES

 GENERAL NOTES

  1. Method of calculation for transit fees and other charges:
  • As Net Tonnage is considered the inscribed Tonnage on the Vessel’s International Tonnage Certificate.

1.2    Wherever the Port of Departure and the Port of Destination are not declared, the fees of category “B” apply.

1.3    In case the official documents of the Vessel are not provided to the Company’s authorized employee for the calculation of fees, then the provisions of Article 15 of the Navigation and Capacity Regulation of the Corinth Canal apply.

1.4    In case war ships do not provide their Net Tonnage documents, the transit fees calculation will be based on their Full Load capacity.

1.5    The calculation basis for submarines is their Full Load capacity (Surface Standard).

1.6    The calculation basis for the transit fees of Tugboats and Salvage Tugs will be 70% of their Gross Tonnage.

1.7   For all vessels that an International Tonnage Certificate has not been issued and their fees cannot be calculated otherwise, the Customer should contact the Company to determine the transit fees.

1.8    Surcharges and reduction on fees apply to all categories unless it is otherwise stated.

1.9 In case the L.O.A yachts cannot be cross-referenced from the vessel’s official documents, then the Length (L) shown on the official documents, plus the following, will be taken as the basis of calculation:

– Up to 9 meters:              LOA = L

– 9-15 meters:                 LOA = L+(L*15%)

15-25 meters:                LOA = L+(L*20%)

Above 25 meters:         LOA = L+(L*25%)

  1. Warships and Passenger Liners have priority over other vessels as long as the difference between their arrival times does not exceed 30 minutes.
  2. Vessels should have their pilot ladder ready for the safe embarkation and disembarking of pilots. Appropriate ropes for the Tugboats should also be ready; otherwise the vessel might lose its priority in transiting the Canal at the Company’s discretion.
  3. Charges for other services, which might be provided by the Company but are not defined in the present document, are defined and paid after a special agreement with the Company.
  4. For the use of two (2) Tugboats during towage, double fees will be applied.
  5. In case more than one Pilot is used, the fees are charged according to the number of pilots used.
  6. For Vessels with Net Tonnage 0-100NT, towage can be provided by the Company’s Pilot boats.
  7. Towage is mandatory for Vessels without engines.
  8. Greek Navy Ships are exempt from transit fees according to the provisions of Article 9, paragraph 2 of Law 1067/80.
  9. In case the Master of the Vessel declares false statements concerning Net Tonnage, Total Length, and Ports of Departure and Destination, or whenever a Vessel sails away without paying the transit fees, apart from the non-collected fees, these Vessels will also be charged with a fine equal to 100% of the corresponding fees and the relevant Authorities will be notified.
  10. Fees can also be paid at the Canal offices. Information on payment arrangements is provided by the authorized employees of the Company on VHF channel 11 or by phone.
  11. A.T is not included in the prices. Vessels that do not present all the necessary legal documents and prerequisites for V.A.T exemption, will be charged with the equivalent factor according to the legislative statue in force-ministerial decree of Ministry of National Economy & Finance.
